Welcome to the home of Altrincham & District Referees
Altrincham & District Referees’ Society is the local branch of the Referees’ Association. Our members include referees serving all levels of the game, from junior grass roots matches through to FIFA international matches. This range of experience is of great benefit to all members of the society as we help each other to improve and develop.
We meet once per month, running an outdoor training & development session led by FA Referee Tutors, followed by an indoor session covering a variety of topics during the season. In between the two sessions we have time for food and networking! Our programme includes training from Premier League and Football League officials, and is designed to be of benefit to referees from all levels.
We also work closely with the Altrincham & District FA, and many of our members give their time to observing, mentoring and tutoring referees to aid their development.
Continuing a very successful 2015 which has seen Anthony appointed as referee to the Capital One Cup Final, additional assistant for the UEFA Europa League Final, and a referee at the UEFA European U19 Championship Finals, we are delighted that he has now been appointed as referee for The FA Community Shield.
The match between Arsenal and Chelsea will be held at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 2nd August 2015 (3pm).
Anthony will be assisted by Gary Beswick and John Brooks, with Roger East as fourth official and Michael Salisbury as the reserve assistant. Our congratulations go to Anthony and all of his team.
Anthony Taylor has been selected as one of six (and the only English) referees for the UEFA European U19 Championship Finals being held in Greece during July.
The two week, eight team tournament kicks off on Monday 6th July, and we’re delighted that Anthony has been given the honour of refereeing the tournament’s opening match between hosts Greece and Ukraine.
Altrincham referee Alex Phillips has been named Cheshire FA’s Academy Referee of the Year. Alex’s dedication to refereeing goes beyond his own appointments, regularly offering his help as a mentor to new referees in the district and assisting as Referee Development Programme meetings. We’re delighted that Alex’s hard work, skill and dedication has been recognised with this award.
